St. Joseph Hospital, Koottarwas established in the year2004 under the patronage of the Congregation of the Daughters of Mary. The aim of starting this health care facility was to afford excellent health care service to the marginalized without any discrimination of caste, creed, religion etc. At the beginning the hospital had only 5 beds and presently 35 beds are there. Religious sisters and the staff are working in the hospital are very considerable to the poor people living in this area. The compassionate health care provided by the hospital is very much appreciated by the general public. The hospital is located in a remote underdeveloped area which is thickly populated. This area falls within the ecclesiastical jurisdiction of the Diocese of Vellore. On an average 150 patients are coming to the hospital for treatment daily. Weorganizes outreach programmes to the remote villages in the area by conducting special health camps and health awareness programmes.
As a charitable institution it initiated the charitable works likePalliative care unit with free treatment, Village adoption, Aid to the higher study of the poor students, Concession for the poor patients etc
